Liberals in Etobicoke North Nominate Julie Mbengi Lutete as 2022 Ontario Liberal Party Candidate

March 23, 2021 – Liberals in Etobicoke North have nominated Julie Mbengi Lutete, a Francophone leader and a community advocate, as their Ontario Liberal Party (OLP) candidate for the next provincial election.

“Unlike Doug Ford, Julie knows how important having safe and healthy schools are to the families in Etobicoke North,” said OLP Leader, Steven Del Duca. “I know Julie has what it takes to be a fantastic local representative and I look forward to working alongside her to make Doug Ford a one-term Premier and a one-term MPP.”

In addition to advocating for safer schools, Lutete also knows the importance of ensuring our province has a health care system that is accessible to all Ontarians, and a strong social system in place to provide programs and services to support low-income families and minority communities.

Lutete has also fought for Francophone rights at l’Assemblée de la Francophonie de l’Ontario as vice-chair for 10 years and helps Francophone newcomers settle in Toronto by providing essential supports such as housing, community connections, and referral services. She is also the Chair of la Coalition des Noirs Francophones de l’Ontario.

“I am honoured to be nominated as the Ontario Liberal Party’s candidate in Etobicoke North. I am ready to stand up for our community and for equal access to necessary services,” said Lutete. “Our community needs a strong, present representative, and I’m ready to fill that role.”
