Statement from Steven Del Duca on International Holocaust Remembrance Day

Today, Ontarians pay tribute to and remember the over six million Jews and millions of others murdered during the Holocaust by the Nazi regime. And as we remember those that perished during the Shoah, we also honour those who survived – promising to listen to their stories of hope and courage as they faced times that were full of violence and suffering.

By listening to these stories, we must also learn to ensure our communities are built on inclusion and strengthened by our differences, not divided by them. And we must teach our children the values of love and hope, not hatred and fear. We must also remain steadfast in our commitment to combat antisemitism and all other forms of violence.

As Ontarians and Canadians, we stand together as we join the rest of the world in promising to never forget the horrendous and heinous crimes and actions that took the lives of so many of the innocent. I stand with the Jewish community today, and every day, in the fight against hateful antisemitism.
