Virtual Question Period: April 28

The legislature may not be sitting – but Ontario Liberals are hard at work holding the government accountable. Here’s what we would have asked if Question Period was held today.

ORDER!

Question for the Premier of Ontario: Yesterday, The Premier and Minister of Health talked about contact tracing goals. We know that contact tracing is hugely important for being able to re-open Ontario – but we have yet to hear specifics on this.

What is Ontario’s contact tracing capacity now? And how far away are we from reaching the goal of 90% reached in 24 hours?

Supplementary: Yesterday, the Premier was asked time and time again for specifics on his plan to re-open Ontario. Saskatchewan’s plan had specifics – Ontario’s did not.

We’re not asking for the date or for a timeline to re-open, what Ontarians want is an idea of what will open when. Will the Premier commit to providing Ontarians with this information by end of week at the latest?

Question for the Premier of Ontario:  Over the weekend, the government announced a $4 an hour wage top up for frontline workers. But paramedics were left in the cold. The Premier likes to talk about healthcare heroes. Can he stand up in the legislature today and explain why he excluded Paramedics from additional funding?

Supplementary: The Premier has talked endlessly about working together with opposition parties – but his plan to re-open Ontario excludes opposition parties from being engaged by the government. If we are all in this together, will the Premier commit now to working with all MPPs to reopen the province?
