Teacher and Basketball Coach Dorothy Noronha Nominated as Ontario Liberal Candidate in Northumberland—Peterborough South

COBOURG, ON – Dorothy Noronha, a high school teacher and senior boy’s basketball coach, has been officially nominated as the Ontario Liberal candidate for Northumberland—Peterborough South.

“Dorothy has seen firsthand what six years of Doug Ford’s Conservative government has done to our education system, our health care system and our economy.

“Residents of Northumberland—Peterborough South deserve better than record ER wait times, more than Doug Ford’s failure to train more family doctors that’s left millions without primary care, and an MPP who will always fight for them and their families.

“I know that Dorothy will be a strong voice on our team. I’m excited to announce that Dorothy is officially your Ontario Liberal candidate for Northumberland—Peterborough South!”

— Bonnie Crombie, Leader of Ontario’s Liberals

“Under Doug Ford’s Conservatives, all of the institutions that we hold dear and that serve the people of our riding have been systematically eroded to profit his rich friends and wealthy insiders.

“I have worked in health care, in finance, and most recently in education. I cannot sit by silently while these community assets are sold off for parts to the highest bidder.

“I have no designs or ambitions for elevated positions, corporate plums, or feathered nests. I am excited to work with our amazing Liberal caucus under Bonnie Crombie’s leadership to turn around the damage and deliver more for the people of Ontario!”

— Dorothy Noronha, Ontario Liberal Candidate for Northumberland—Peterborough South

Dorothy and her family have called Northumberland home for over 20 years and cherish their home nestled in the Northumberland forest. Dorothy currently teaches business and leadership to students at Cobourg Collegiate Institute, as well as being part of the CCI Senior Boys Basketball coaching team. Her greatest joy is welcoming CCI grads to share their business successes with her current students.

Prior to teaching, Dorothy gained the business skills she shares with students by working as an employee benefits and pension specialist, a wealth and estate planning counsellor, marketing in the healthcare sector, as well as having run many small businesses over three decades.
