Steven Del Duca Makes Statement Celebrating the Dragon Boat Festival

Today, June 25th, marks the Dragon Boat Festival.

For decades, Ontario’s many dragon boat festivals have been a celebration of Chinese culture and traditions. Celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month of the Chinese calendar, it is customarily marked by eating rice dumplings, wearing pouches of incense, and of course, dragon boat races.

While many Dragon Boat Festivals across Ontario have been postponed or cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, we look forward to future festivals and dragon boat races in years to come.

I’d also like to take a moment to recognize that Chinese-Canadians have been subject to prejudice and discrimination during this difficult time. We stand with you against prejudice and hatred.

On behalf of the Ontario Liberal Party, I’d like to wish all of those celebrating a safe and healthy festival, however you are celebrating this year.
