Statement from Steven Del Duca on Vyshyvanka Day

“Originating fifteen years ago as an initiative started by a university student, Vyshyvanka Day has grown to become an international celebration, where each year on the third Thursday of May, Ukrainians, and individuals from all around the world, come together to honour Ukraine’s rich heritage, history and culture.

And on this day, people wear traditional embroidered Ukrainian clothes – vyshyvankas – which are individually unique and each a beautiful work of art.

Today, I am happy to join those celebrating as we recognize Ukraine’s importance in the world, and the importance of Ukrainian Ontarians to the prosperity of our province.

On behalf of myself and the entire Ontario Liberal Party, I wish all Ukrainian Ontarians a very happy Vyshyvanka Day!”
