Ontario Liberal Party Launches “Our Choice,” a Member-Driven Leadership Election Focused on Ontario’s Future

Toronto, ON — February 7, 2026 — Today, the Ontario Liberal Party is launching Our Choice, its 2026 leadership election, shaped by members and focused on the future of the Party and the province of Ontario.

This leadership process represents a moment of opportunity: to choose new leadership, shape the direction of the Party, and build what’s next for Ontario.

“We have a real opportunity in front of us. One that can strengthen our party from the ground up,” said John Fraser, Interim Leader of the Ontario Liberal Party. “This leadership process gives local Liberals the chance to grow our associations, clubs, and commissions, and to bring new people into our movement. We have the talent, the energy, and the resources to do that work.”

“The timing couldn’t be more important,” Fraser added. “The NDP is in a period of uncertainty, and Doug Ford’s Conservatives are out of gas, out of ideas, and out of touch with Ontarians. It’s time for us to seize this moment and get ready to lead.”

“Our Choice is about building momentum and focusing on what comes next,” said Kathryn McGarry, President of the Ontario Liberal Party.

“This leadership process is an opportunity to bring Liberals together, grow our movement across Ontario, and put forward leadership that is ready to earn the trust of Ontarians and oIer a real alternative in the next election.”

From November 9 to November 20, 2026, Ontario Liberal Party members will cast their ballots online. The Party’s next Leader will be announced on November 21, 2026.

Voting will be conducted online using a ranked ballot system. Every Ontario Liberal Party member will have a direct vote in choosing the next Leader, ensuring the outcome reflects the voices of members across the province.

The leadership process will be overseen by the Party’s Chief Returning Officer, Beatrice Keleher- Raffoul, in accordance with Party rules.
