Liberals Nominate Lucille Collard as Ontario Liberal Candidate for Ottawa – Vanier

September 7, 2019

OTTAWA – VANIER – Local Liberals have nominated Lucille Collard to be their candidate for the upcoming by-election at an event in Ottawa – Vanier on Saturday.

“We are very excited to have Mme. Collard join our team as our candidate for Ottawa – Vanier,” said Brian Johns, President of the Ontario Liberal Party. “With her impressive credentials and history of community engagement, we are certain she will be able to hold this important riding in the upcoming by-election”.

Over 300 local party members showed up on Saturday at École Secondaire Publique de la Salle to cast their vote in the contest.

Lucille Collard has lived in Ottawa – Vanier for the last 25 years, has been elected as the French Public School Trustee for Ottawa-Vanier for the last 3 consecutive terms and currently serves as Board Chair.

“I am honored to have been elected as the Liberal candidate for Ottawa – Vanier. Change starts in our communities, and I can’t wait to get started” said Mme. Collard, “Ottawa – Vanier deserves an advocate who will fight for francophone rights and to keep our public healthcare and education systems strong. Doug Ford’s cuts hurt us all. If we work together, we can make him a one term Premier.”

“Doug ford’s priorities are out of whack with those of Ontario families” said Interim Leader John Fraser, “If there’s only one thing you need to know about this government, it’s that they hired a $1000 a day advisor on alcohol and cut the office of the child advocate. Mme. Collard will be a key member of the fight for Ontario’s future, one that prioritizes Ontario families, not only the well-connected few.”

Ottawa – Vanier has spoken decisively in support of Ontario Liberals. We will continue to fight for those services Ontarians depend upon; a robust healthcare system, great schools, a healthy environment and a strong social safety net.
