DEL DUCA: Doug Ford Should Stop Talking And Do His Job

TORONTO – Steven Del Duca, Leader of the Ontario Liberal Party, issued the following statement:

“Doug Ford’s recent tailspin has him on the ropes, defending himself with partisan jabs instead of doing his job. Ontario’s essential workers have been abandoned for the better part of a year and pleading for paid sick leave to protect them at work. But Doug Ford is too busy playing petty politics instead of passing an Ontario Liberal bill on paid sick leave.

Small businesses shouldn’t be burdened with new costs right now. It’s why we’ve always said the government should fund sick days for essential employees until the pandemic is over.

Ontario Liberals will always stand up for paid sick leave. An Ontario Liberal government was the first and only one to actually deliver on paid sick leave. And we will keep fighting to give Ontarians provincially-funded paid sick days.

While Doug Ford is obsessed with fighting me and attacking the real solutions Ontario Liberals are putting forward, I’m focused on the 15 million women and men who call this province home. The 15 million women and men that Doug Ford has consistently abandoned.

He needs to accept that his stunning incompetence is hurting Ontarians and resign now before he does any more damage.”
