Statement by Steven Del Duca on World AIDS Day

Today, Ontarians embrace those who are living with HIV/AIDS and we remember all those who we have lost.

This is a day to fight the stigma and to commit ourselves, once again, to working towards a society where HIV/AIDS is beaten.

While there has been a lot of progress the work is not done yet. We need to make sure that we break down barriers for those living with HIV/AIDS and we need to put our efforts into education and prevention.

I know the pandemic has affected our most vulnerable populations the most. That is why we will fight to ensure fair and equal access to our healthcare system for everyone and why we will take on stigma throughout society.

Together, we will continue fighting HIV/AIDS here in Ontario.
