Liberals in Oxford Nominate Mary Holmes as Ontario Liberal Party Candidate

March 22, 2022 – Liberals in Oxford have nominated Mary Holmes, a lifelong educator and community builder, as their Ontario Liberal Party (OLP) candidate for the next provincial election.

“Mary has dedicated her life to making Oxford a better place as a lifelong educator,” said OLP Leader, Steven Del Duca. “Mary’s commitment to bettering Oxford makes her an excellent voice for her community at Queen’s Park.”

Holmes became a teacher at St. Mary’s High School in Woodstock upon moving home to Oxford County in 1988. In 2004, she became a Program Coordinator for the London District Catholic School Board and spent eight years working to improve the programming for the Arts and Modern Languages.

Holmes has also worked as a faculty advisor at Western University for the Faculty of Education, a college supervisor at D’Youville College, and a professor at Fanshawe College for a decade. Outside of her career in education, Holmes has been actively involved in many community organizations in Oxford including the Theatre Woodstock Board, the Children’s Aid Society, Holy Trinity Parish, and the Oxford Community Foundation Board.

“I’m honoured to be joining Steven Del Duca’s team as the Ontario Liberal Candidate for Oxford,” said Holmes. “Our Liberal plan will invest in our community, improve our education and healthcare systems and make life more affordable for everyone across Oxford County, and Ontario.”
