January 20, 2022 – Liberals in Durham have nominated Granville Anderson, the Deputy Mayor for Clarington and former Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP), as their Ontario Liberal Party (OLP) candidate for the next provincial election.
“I have witnessed firsthand how much of a tremendous representative Granville is for Durham,” said OLP Leader, Steven Del Duca. “With Granville as their MPP, residents in Durham will have a proven fighter on their side at Queen’s Park.”
Granville Anderson currently serves as a Regional and Local Councillor for the Municipality of Clarington, and is the Deputy Mayor and Chair of the Planning and Development Committee. Anderson also serves on the Region of Durham Social Services Committee and is a Commissioner for Durham Region Transit. Previously, he was the MPP for Durham from 2014 to 2018.
Anderson has lived in Clarington with his family for over 40 years, and during that time, he has been actively involved in various community and social justice groups, coached sports teams and been a member of the Rotary Club.
“It is critically important that we have a strong voice at the table looking out for our best interests,” said Anderson. “I am proud of the work that we were able to accomplish during my previous term in government and I am prepared to continue that work again, to serve the great people of the Durham riding.”
