Statement from Steven Del Duca on the Independence Day of Pakistan

Steven Del Duca, Leader of the Ontario Liberal Party, issued the following statement:

“Today, we join with the people of Pakistan and the Pakistani-Canadian community in celebrating their 75 years of independence.

We also celebrate the Pakistani community, especially those right here in Ontario, who have done so much to build up our country and province. Today, Pakistanis of all stripes call Ontario home, and our province is all the better because of it.

This past year, the Pakistani-Canadian community also stepped up to aid Canada’s efforts to fight COVID-19. By working on the frontlines, assisting with vaccine deployment, and ensuring community members were safe, Pakistani-Canadians showed exemplary leadership in a time of crisis — and we are forever grateful for their selflessness and sacrifice.

On behalf of myself and the Ontario Liberal Party, I would like to wish all Pakistani-Canadians a very happy Independence Day.

Jashn-e-Azadi mubarak!”
