Statement from Steven Del Duca on Yom Ha’Atzmaut

Today, the Jewish community in Canada and around the world celebrates Yom Ha’Atzmaut, Israel’s Independence Day. I am happy to join with you in celebrating Israel’s 73rd birthday, and the many contributions Jewish and Israeli-Ontarians make every day.

This year has been hard on us all. Today, people should be coming together to celebrate.

While that’s not possible this year, I’m confident that the Jewish community will find ways to come together virtually this year.

Ontario has a long and bright friendship with Israel. On trade, academia, R&D and more, we’ve been longtime partners and friends of the State of Israel.

Jewish and Israeli-Ontarians have made tremendous contributions here at home too, taking leadership positions in your communities and helping to build a better, brighter future.

On behalf of myself and the entire Ontario Liberal Party, I wish all Israeli-Ontarians a happy Yom Ha’Atzmaut!
