Qadira Jackson, Lawyer and Community Volunteer, Officially Nominated as the Ontario Liberal Candidate for Scarborough Southwest

SCARBOROUGH, ON – Qadira Jackson, a lawyer and community volunteer, has been officially nominated as the Ontario Liberal candidate for Scarborough Southwest.

“Qadira Jackson’s lifelong dedication to helping others and her deep connection to Scarborough Southwest make her a strong advocate for real change.

“She’ll fight to ensure that every family has access to a family doctor, that we invest in public education, and make life more affordable for the real people of Ontario.

“I’m thrilled to announce that Qadira Jackson has been nominated as our Ontario Liberal candidate for Scarborough Southwest!”

— Bonnie Crombie, Leader of Ontario’s Liberals

“I was inspired to give back to our community by my mother who was a social worker that opened our home to over 150 foster children over the years. I followed in her footsteps to make a difference, working in schools, detention centres, homeless shelters, group homes, women’s shelters, and in child welfare before becoming a lawyer.

“My unique experience is what allows me to fully understand and advocate for the needs of my Scarborough Southwest community. I hope to earn your trust so that I can fight for you at Queens Park, and start investing in public healthcare and education, and making life more affordable.”

— Qadira Jackson, Ontario Liberal Candidate for Scarborough Southwest

Qadira Jackson proudly lives in Scarborough Southwest and her family has been strongly rooted in Scarborough for over 40 years. Before becoming a lawyer, she worked with children as a social worker in a variety of settings including at elementary schools.

In addition to her law practice, Qadira co-founded a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion consulting firm called Blink Equity and has sat on many boards including the Canadian Association of Black Lawyers, the Canadian Association of Urban Financial Professionals, the Parish Council at her local church, and served as a Councillor on the Professional Engineers Ontario’s regulatory body.

Qadira is a committed community volunteer and currently sits on the Parent Council of her children’s school and is a Director at the West Scarborough Neighbourhood Community Centre. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her spouse and two young boys, sewing, fashion design, DIY projects, and speaking at events to inspire youth.
