QUEEN’S PARK, ON — Today, the Ontario Liberal Caucus issued the following statement:
It is now confirmed that the OPP Anti-Rackets Branch is actively investigating Keel Digital Solutions as a result of a forensic audit.
This is serious. Very serious.
An equally serious question is why the government continued giving Keel Digital Solutions tens of millions of dollars through the Skills Development Fund after a routine audit was escalated to a forensic audit.
No company that has been flagged for a forensic audit should be collecting money from taxpayers — especially when the company’s lobbyist is the Minister of Labour’s close personal friend, and one of its directors was seated in family-owned rinkside seats with that same minister at a Toronto Maple Leafs game.
Countless times, the President of the Treasury Board, Caroline Mulroney, has refused to answer our questions about how she allowed taxpayer money to go to a company this government knew it could not trust.
This pattern is getting clearer by the day. Ontario Liberals are calling on the government to:
• Give the exact date the routine audit was completed and flagged for a forensic audit.
• Disclose the date the forensic audit began.
• Reveal exactly how much public money Keel Digital Solutions received after it was flagged.
With both the OPP and the RCMP now investigating government-linked scandals, Ontarians are being forced to confront a staggering reality: this government is using tax dollars to for its friends above all else.
