Ontario Liberal Party Releases Comprehensive Campaign Debrief Report

Ontario Liberal Party Releases Comprehensive Campaign Debrief Report
TORONTO – ON – SEPTEMBER 8, 2025

The Ontario Liberal Party today released its 2025 Campaign Debrief Report, one of the most comprehensive reviews in the party’s history. The report is the product of a grassroots-led process, reflecting the voices of more than 1,200 Liberals from across the province, including candidates, campaign staff, riding associations, and volunteers.

Party President Kathryn McGarry thanked the volunteer committee who led the process, noting the depth of their work and the importance of the findings.

“I want to thank the volunteer committee who gave their time, energy, and expertise to lead this process. Their work, and the voices of members across Ontario, have given us a report that is both honest and forward-looking. It is clear about where we fell short and, more importantly, where we need to go next. This report is not the end of a conversation, but the beginning of real action,” said McGarry.

Ontario Liberal Leader Bonnie Crombie also welcomed the report, calling it an important roadmap for renewal.

“I want to thank the volunteer team and the many grassroots Liberals who gave their time and energy to this Campaign Debrief Report. This was a party-led process, and I deeply appreciate the honesty and commitment that went into it. For me, the clear takeaways are stronger regionalized communications, earlier nominations, rebuilding our volunteer base, investing in data and digital tools, and defining a clear, values-driven Liberal message. The good news is that this work has already begun, and this report will help us go even further,” said Crombie.

The Campaign Debrief Report highlights both successes and challenges from the 2025 campaign and outlines clear recommendations to strengthen the Ontario Liberal Party ahead of the next election. The report is organized into key areas including fundraising, volunteer engagement, communications, platform development, leadership and tour, nominations, campaign operations, and data management.

McGarry emphasized that the party has already begun to act on many of the report’s recommendations, including strengthening communications capacity, expanding staffing resources, and increasing grassroots engagement through province-wide tours and training opportunities.

“This report provides us with a roadmap for reform that comes directly from the grassroots of our movement. We are committed to working with our members to ensure these recommendations are implemented so that the Ontario Liberal Party is stronger, more competitive, and more connected to communities in every corner of this province,” McGarry added.

The Campaign Debrief Report is available for members and the public to review.
