Ontario Government Pitting Parents, Students and Educators Against Each Other

OTTAWA, ON – John Fraser, MPP for Ottawa South and Interim Leader of the Ontario Liberal Party, has released the following statement in response to new gender and pronoun policies proposed by Minister Lecce:

“As a parent, and like most parents, I love my children and I would want to know — so I can be there to support them.

“I also know that for some children, their parents knowing is not safe for them. In some cases, their lives are at risk.

“I see nothing in what the Ford Government is proposing that addresses those risks.

“That is wrong.

“No additional supports for students and families. No guidance or policy for educators.

“Instead of taking a thoughtful approach, this government has chosen to pit parents, students and educators against each other.

“That is wrong too.”
