Ontario “dead last” in Canada to roll out COVID-19 vaccine supply

OTTAWA – Today, Ontario has only administered 42,419 out of the 146,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines received. It has been 3 weeks since the 96,000 Pfizer doses were delivered.

“The vaccine roll-out of our current supply is far too slow and we know that the longer we delay, the more lives will be lost,” said Liberal Health and Long-Term Care critic, MPP John Fraser

“It’s hard to understand how Ontario is last among the provinces for vaccine distribution. Doug Ford has said repeatedly that we would be ready when the vaccines arrived, and clearly, that’s not the case,” said Fraser

“Today, 219 of the province’s long-term care homes are in outbreak. We need to step up our game and get doses out of freezers and into the arms of staff, essential caregivers and residents living in long term care homes.”

“Ontarians deserve to see a detailed plan and have regular updates on our progress of the COVID-19 vaccine roll-out.”
