Ontarians Face Anxiety And Confusion, Doug Ford Missing In Action

TORONTO – Steven Del Duca, Leader of the Ontario Liberal Party, issued the following statement:

“Moms and Dads across Ontario are facing anxiety and confusion today, unsure that the government is safely handling the reopening of our schools. Skyrocketing class sizes, chaos in online learning, and new COVID-19 outbreaks in schools show that this government had no plan to ensure safety.”

“Parents deserve real leadership. For months Ontario Liberals called for funding to ensure small class sizes. School boards simply don’t have the resources they need. They are struggling at the last minute to try to make things work. It didn’t have to be this way.”

“I’m increasingly concerned that this government has no plan to deal with a second wave. We’re seeing the same delays and indecision we saw with the school reopening plan. It’s time for this government to get serious about funding our schools, hospitals, nursing homes and frontline workers.”

“The Ontario Liberal caucus will continue to fight relentlessly for safe schools and nursing homes, and an economic recovery that supports those who’ve been battered most by the pandemic: small business entrepreneurs, women and people of colour. We will hold Doug Ford to account for his inaction every step of the way. ”
