TORONTO, ON. – Today, Mary-Margaret McMahon, MPP for Beaches–East York, issued the following statement calling on Doug Ford to repeal Bill 110 and give back Toronto’s waterfront.
Cancelling the Billy Bishop Airport expansion was the right decision. Torontonians made it clear more than a decade ago and again this year that they don’t want more jets, more pollution, more congestion, or fewer opportunities to build the housing our growing city needs.
Now it’s Doug Ford’s turn to do the right thing.
With no business case, a growing Lester B. Pearson Airport, and a rejected airport expansion proposal, there is no justification for Bill 110. Doug Ford should repeal it, reverse his waterfront land grab, and return Toronto’s waterfront along with all of its cultural gems, like Little Norway Park to the people it belongs to.
It’s time for Doug Ford to end his island fantasy, repeal Bill 110, and let Toronto decide the future of its own waterfront.
