Ford Government Must Address Landlord and Tenant Board Backlog

OTTAWA, ON – John Fraser, MPP for Ottawa South and Interim Leader of the Ontario Liberal Party, has released the following statement in response to the Ontario Ombudsman’s report on delays at the Landlord and Tenant Board:

“This dysfunctional Landlord and Tenant Board has caused great distress and financial hardship for both tenants and small landlords. The Ford Government has ignored this problem and allowed it to fester for five years.

”At a time when families are struggling with an affordability crisis, the Ford Government needs to take action now to address the backlog, while reintroducing real rent control.”
