The Kitchener-Conestoga Provincial Liberal Association invites you to join us for an opportunity to learn about ongoing environmental concerns in Waterloo Region and Wilmot Township.

Our guest speakers include:

    • Tim Louis, MP for Kitchener-Conestoga, who will provide an update about his efforts to protect farmland, including his motion at the federal parliament’s Agricultural Committee, calling on it to undertake a study on the protection of prime agricultural land for long-term agricultural use.
    • Kevin Thomason, Vice-Chair of Grand River Environmental Network, is longtime environmental activist and tech entrepreneur. Kevin will be representing Fight for Farmland, which seeks to block the Region of Waterloo’s effort to expropriate 770 acres of prime farmland in Wilmot for an industrial site.
    • Kim Charlesworth, a climate change activist for more than 20 years, both here and in BC, has been involved with Green WR, 50×30, and Citizens Climate Lobby, and helped create Waterloo Region Climate Collaborative as a supportive network for groups already working for change.

The programme for the town hall is as follows:

    • 2:00 to 2:30 PM – Mix & Mingle with light refreshments provided
    • 2:30 to 3:30 PM – Presentations from MP Tim Louis, Kevin Thomason, and Kim Charlesworth
    • 3:30 to 4:00 PM – Audience Q & A
