Doug Ford Must Listen To Experts & Prioritize The Health And Safety Of Ontarians

TORONTO – Steven Del Duca, Leader of the Ontario Liberal Party, made the following statement:

“700 new cases is shocking. Wave 2 has hit Ontario and Doug Ford has no plan. It’s time to listen to the health experts and take a regional approach to closing bars, restricting indoor dining and taking a hard look at non-essential gatherings.

“The Ontario Hospital Association has called the government to provide a plan of action to protect the ability of our hospitals to deliver essential services. So far we’ve seen no plan from Doug Ford.

“Ontarians are more concerned about keeping their parents and grandparents safe from Wave 2 than they are about opening up bars and casinos. Ontario’s hospitals are spot on, we need new restrictions on weddings, restaurants and bars, gyms, non-essential business and places of worship.

“It’s also high-time for Doug Ford to pull together an all-of-Ontario approach by appointing Opposition Leaders to a Cabinet Committee on the Pandemic.

“Everything is at stake: the safety of our parents and grandparents in long-term care, the ability of our kids to stay in school, and the livelihood of tens of thousands.

“Doug Ford had seven months to put together a second wave plan – he didn’t do it. I urge the Premier to include us so we can work collaboratively to stop Wave 2 in its tracks.”
