Virtual Question Period: May 6

The legislature may not be sitting – but Ontario Liberals are hard at work holding the government accountable. Here’s what we would have asked if Question Period was held today.

ORDER!

Question for the Premier of Ontario: Premier, yesterday you blamed Chief Medical Officers of Health for the low number of tests performed, but the Globe and Mail reported that in Windsor-Essex the issue wasn’t the medical officer – it was the number of swabs available. Why are you throwing health leaders under the bus when the problem is your government can’t provide enough swabs

Supplementary: Premier, when the numbers were good you spent a whole day bragging about them and taking credit. We’ve had only one day of 16,000 tests performed – what are you going to do to get health leaders the swabs, the reagent and the tools they need to carry out tests?

Question for the Premier of Ontario: Premier, 3 personal support workers have died from COVID-19, you know that. PSWs have been given surgical masks but despite this, many have now tested positive for COVID, it’s the reason why they are begging for N95s. Premier, this is an issue of life and death, why will your government not give long term care workers N95s?

Supplementary: Premier, when we see you doing your photo-ops, you’re wearing an N95 mask. I want to try to understand. For a photo op, it’s appropriate for you to have an N95 – but for long term care workers, for PSWs and nurses working with our most vulnerable seniors, an N95 is too much. Will your government take immediate action to provide frontline healthcare workers with the N95s they need?
