Doug Ford Doubles Down on For-Profit Long-Term Care

TORONTO – Ontario Liberal Leader, Steven Del Duca issued the following statement:

“Like so many others, I was optimistic about today’s long-term care announcement, and hopeful that the government had learned from its many mistakes during the pandemic. Instead of the landmark changes Ontarians are demanding, Doug Ford announced he is doing nothing to support the expansion of not-for-profit care and isn’t acting on many of the Long-Term Care Commission’s recommendations.

Ontario Liberals and advocates all agree that profit and care aren’t compatible. If Doug Ford wants to keep helping his wealthy friends who operate for-profit homes, I’m prepared to work across party lines to fundamentally change the way we care for our elders.”
