Liberals in Leeds—Grenville—Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes Nominate Josh Bennett as 2022 Ontario Liberal Party Candidate

September 28, 2021 – Liberals in Leeds—Grenville—Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes have nominated Josh Bennett, a business executive, volunteer, and strong community leader, as their Ontario Liberal Party (OLP) candidate for the next provincial election.

“Josh is a proven leader who, each and every day, continues to work with others to ensure those in his community have the greatest opportunity for success,” said OLP Leader, Steven Del Duca. “With Josh as their MPP, families in Leeds—Grenville—Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes will have a strong advocate on their side.”

Bennett grew up in Prescott and is the son of a United Church Minister and a French Teacher. After graduating from Queen’s University, Bennett completed a Master’s at Royal Military College, with a thesis on Canadian National Security.

After starting his career as a Market Researcher in Toronto, Bennett moved back to the Brockville area in 2013. He soon assumed roles as a community leader, becoming President of the Rotary Club of Brockville, the Chair of the Brockville Santa Claus Parade, a devoted member of Wall St United Church, and a supply lay-minister at Athens United Church.

After seeing Doug Ford mishandle the government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Bennett decided to run to become the next MPP for Leeds—Grenville—Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes as the Ontario Liberal Party candidate.

“I’m proud to stand up for a safer, stronger, and more equitable Ontario,” said Bennet. “I look forward to working with Steven Del Duca and the Ontario Liberal team to take on Doug Ford’s Conservatives in the upcoming election, and being a strong voice for the residents of Leeds—Grenville—Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes.”
