Vaccine summit concludes with an urgent call for action

TORONTO – Today, leaders across the health care, education, business, and municipal sectors joined representatives from each of Ontario’s opposition parties to discuss a clear and effective plan for vaccine mandates and the need for a province-wide vaccine certificate.

“Ontarians want urgent action now,” said Ontario Liberal Leader, Steven Del Duca. “Doug Ford needs to move immediately to deliver an easily accessible, provincially-issued vaccine certificate to help keep our schools and economy open, and keep our healthcare system strong.”

Today’s vaccine summit marks the first time that opposition parties have come together with sector and union leaders to make a unified call to Doug Ford, underscoring how broad the consensus is behind vaccine certificates.

“I would like to thank all those who made themselves available for this important conversation on measures to keep Ontarians safe during the fourth wave,” added Del Duca. “The leadership you have all shown will help save lives and livelihoods.”

Del Duca, Green Leader Mike Schreiner and Ontario NDP Health Critic France Gélinas also held a joint news conference to speak about the summit and reiterate their calls for a vaccine certificate.
