Statement from the Ontario Liberal Leader on Portable Benefits

TORONTO – Ontario Liberal Leader, Steven Del Duca issued the following statement:

“On August 12, 2019 – 905 days ago – I proposed an Economic Dignity Charter for Ontario to address issues of parental leave, pension and life insurance, health and dental support. I said it had to be “portable” and must cover the self-employed, contract workers and those employed by small businesses, because Economic Dignity should not just be for the lucky few.

Today, Doug Ford’s Conservatives said they would study the idea and release recommendations days after the election. Why would anyone trust them to fix the cuts they made at the beginning of their term after the next election? Cynical moves and flip-flops like this from Doug Ford demonstrate the need for Ontario Liberals to enact our plan after the election.”
