Steven Del Duca, Leader of the Ontario Liberal Party, issued the following statement on Pride Month:
“Today marks the beginning of Pride Month, where we celebrate all LGBTQ2S+ Ontarians and the many contributions the community makes to our province, and to the Ontario Liberal Party.
“While so much progress has been made to advance equality for the LGBTQ2S+ community in Ontario, many continue to fight for it, especially in the Trans community.
“So while we celebrate how far the LGBTQ2S+ community has come in Ontario, we must also commit to being strong allies and advocates for those who aren’t able to fully experience it yet. Ontario Liberals are committed to always standing with the LGBTQ2S+ community in the fight for equal rights.
“I know that like last year, this year’s celebrations won’t be the same due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and that Pride events will need to happen virtually. But I also know that Ontario’s LGBTQ2S+ community is resilient and will continue to find ways to safely celebrate.
“On behalf of my family and the Ontario Liberal Party, I’m wishing Ontario’s LGBTQ2S+ community a happy Pride Month, and I look forward to joining the community to celebrate virtually!”
