Statement from Steven Del Duca on Greek Independence Day

“Today, Ontarians extend their sincerest greetings to the Greek community within Ontario as they celebrate the 201st anniversary of Greece’s independence.

“On this day, we commemorate the start of the Greek revolution which began on March 25, 1821. Many embarked on this battle enduring struggle and hardship for the dream of becoming free.

“Ontario’s strong-rooted and ever-growing Greek community has made a significant impact on this province. One that has contributed to the values, principles and character of Ontario. It is your rich history and culture that allows Ontario to be known as one of the most diverse and extraordinary provinces in all of Canada.

“This year is especially significant as it marks the first time we are able to celebrate in-person since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. I look forward to celebrating this milestone in your nation’s history.

“Χρόνια πολλά!”
