Statement from Steven Del Duca Celebrating Eid-Al Fitr

Assalamualaikum.

Today, Muslims in Ontario and around the world will celebrate Eid-al Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan.

I know that it has been a different – and difficult – Ramadan for many Muslims across this province. Families have prayed and gathered virtually so that we could all stay healthy and safe. We hope that next year, we may do so in person once again.

In this challenging time, Ontario’s Muslim community has demonstrated the values at the heart of Islam, demonstrating kindness, generosity, charity and service throughout the last month. Essential workers have fasted during their shift, and many Muslim Ontarians have volunteered their time and donated their money to food banks to help those in need.

Ontario’s Muslim community is vibrant and strong, and I join them in celebrating this joyous day.

On behalf of the Ontario Liberal Party I wish all those celebrating an “Eid Mubarak”!
