TORONTO, ON—Bonnie Crombie, Leader of Ontario’s Liberals, released the following statement in response to Doug Ford’s plan to send Ontarians $200 cheques:
“Life is unbearably expensive for far too many people right now, and families across the province are looking for financial relief. The thing is—the help that Doug Ford is offering everyday people in Ontario pales in comparison to what he has given away to his rich friends and insiders.
“Billions and billions of dollars for his billionaire buddies who certainly do not need the help.
“Billions to help multi-billion dollar American chains like Walmart and 7-Eleven sell booze just a little bit sooner.
“Billions to allow a foreign spa set up shop at Ontario Place.
“And billions to developers to build mega-mansions on the Greenbelt.
“People are absolutely right to ask the Conservatives where their tax dollars are going, because with Doug Ford, it’s very clear that precious little is going to help them.
“Ontario’s Liberals will kick out the cronies and cut taxes to get more for you.”
