Liberals in Thornhill Nominate Laura Mirabella as 2022 Ontario Liberal Party Candidate

June 9, 2021 – Liberals in Thornhill have nominated Laura Mirabella, a public servant community leader, as their Ontario Liberal Party (OLP) candidate for the next provincial election.

“As a dedicated and well-respected public servant, Laura knows the importance of restoring responsible governance in Ontario and providing the essential services that Ontarians rely on,” said OLP Leader, Steven Del Duca. “I am very happy to have Laura on our team as we prepare to take on Doug Ford and his agenda of reckless cuts.”

Mirabella has served as the Treasurer of both York Region and the City of Vaughan and has held policy and financial management roles at both the provincial and municipal level. Over the last eighteen years, Mirabella has focused her career on helping governments meet their objectives and deliver value to taxpayers through evidence-based advice, responsible financial management, good governance, and transparent reporting.

Mirabella is also committed to community service, and has raised funds and dedicated many volunteer hours in service to not-for-profit organizations. Over the years she raised funds and volunteered for the Elspeth Heyworth Centre for Women, Waves of Changes for Autism, Hospice Vaughan, Mackenzie Health Foundation, United Way of Greater Toronto, Yorktown Family Services, the Touchstone Youth Centre, and CPA Ontario’s Volunteer tax clinics.

“I am excited to work with Steven Del Duca and the Ontario Liberal Party to get Ontario back on track,” said Mirabella. “I will advocate for practical and evidence-based solutions to strengthen our communities, so that all Ontarians can have a fair shot at a good life.”
