Ford Conservatives Send Open Invitation for Corporations to Put Profits Over Patients

TORONTO, ON – Bonnie Crombie, Leader of the Ontario Liberal Party, released the following statement in response to the Ford government’s plan to expand private health clinics across Ontario:

“In the wake of a damning Ontario Health report that paints a startling picture of skyrocketing wait times, and amid record emergency department closures, the Ford Conservatives have chosen, once again, to send an open invitation for corporations to profit off of our publicly funded healthcare system.

Healthcare workers, patients, Ontario Health and the Auditor General have all made it abundantly clear that Doug Ford’s reckless plan to expand private healthcare will lead to worse patient outcomes.

Ontarians deserve a publicly funded healthcare system where the only shareholders that count are the people being cared for.”
