QUEEN’S PARK – Today, MPP John Fraser, Interim Leader of the Ontario Liberal Party, released the following statement in response to the Ford Government’s intention to cover legal fees for current MPPs, Ministers and Staff caught in the RCMP’s criminal investigation into the Greenbelt land swaps.
“If it isn’t bad enough that Doug Ford tried to reward his rich friends and PC-Party insiders with an $8.3 billion backroom deal, the Premier now wants you to pay for the legal fees he racks up during the RCMP’s criminal investigation into his government.
“The legal fees should be covered by the people involved in this deceptive $8.3 billion backroom deal, or by the PC Party of Ontario.
“Not one cent of taxpayers’ money should be used to help the Ford Conservatives cover their tracks during the RCMP’s criminal investigation.”
