Doug Ford Must Answer for His Inaction During the Ottawa Occupation

OTTAWA, ON – John Fraser, MPP for Ottawa South and Interim Leader of the Ontario Liberal Party, has released the following statement in response to Monday morning’s Federal Court ruling that allows Doug Ford to not comply with a summons to testify at the Emergencies Act Inquiry:

“Doug Ford stood by and allowed the residents of Ottawa to suffer for two full weeks before deciding to do his job as Premier. Two full weeks where families didn’t feel safe in their own neighbourhoods, businesses were forced to shutter, and thousands of workers lost their jobs. Ontarians deserve answers for his inaction.

“Doug Ford still has a chance to do the right thing. He must volunteer to testify and explain to residents why he sat back and allowed the occupation to spiral out of control. Until he does, he will continue to lose every day in the court of public opinion.”
