Ontario’s Liberals release a comprehensive transit plan to break gridlock and get people moving across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area

Toronto, ON – Today, Ontario Liberal Leader Bonnie Crombie unveiled her plan for transit in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area, which builds on her commitments in the Ontario Liberal platform, Getting the Basics Right: A Plan to Do More for You.

“After seven years of Doug Ford, traffic is worse and our transit systems are decades out of date. It’s time to change that,” said Bonnie Crombie. “We will get people moving again by investing in the transit you need to get to work or school or fun events in our big cities.”

Team Bonnie Will Deliver on Doug Ford’s Broken Transit Promises

• Build Doug Ford’s forgotten GO Stations on multiple lines, including:
  • King-Liberty and Breslau (along Kitchener line)
  • Spadina-Front and Highway 7–Concord (along Barrie line)
  • Milton-Trafalgar (Milton line)
  • Finch-Kennedy (along Stouffville line)
  • Grimsby and Beamsville (Lakeshore West line)
  • Thornton’s Corners East, Ritson Road, Courtice, and Bowmanville (Lakeshore East line)
• Expand GO Train service to Brantford, Cambridge via Guelph, Bolton via Vaughan, Collingwood via Barrie, and through Toronto via the Midtown Line.
• Extend the Eglinton and Finch West LRTs to Toronto Pearson Airport.
• Re-open the London GO extension.
• Make transit safer and hire 300 additional special constables.

Ontario’s Liberals Will Expedite Planned Public Transit Projects

• Hamilton LRT
• Queen Street BRT (connecting downtown Brampton to Vaughan)
• Dundas BRT
• Eglinton East LRT
• Sheppard Subway Extension to Sheppard West Station to the west and to the Scarborough Subway Extension to the east
• Waterfront East LRT.

Bonnie Crombie Will Make Transit Safer For You

• Hire an additional 300 special constables (total) for TTC, OC Transpo, Metrolinx, and other major transit service providers across the province.
• Establish the CARE Fund (Crisis Assistance and Response Enhancement Fund) to double investment in Mobile Crisis Intervention Teams.
• Provide transit services with operational funding for safety equipment like cameras.
• Install platform doors in all TTC subway stations.

Team Bonnie Will Grow Regional Connections

• Deliver the long-awaited Two-Way All-Day GO Service to Niagara, Milton, and Kitchener-Waterloo.
• Support federally funded high-speed passenger rail between Toronto, Peterborough, and Ottawa.
