FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
April 27, 2025

MISSISSAUGA, ON- Today, Bonnie Crombie, Leader of the Ontario Liberal Party, released the following statement on last night’s horrific attack on the Lapu Lapu Day celebrations in Vancouver:

I am deeply shocked and saddened by the horrific attack at Vancouver’s Lapu Lapu Day celebrations that happened yesterday.

I extend my deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims and to the Filipino Canadian community. This tragedy has shaken us all, and we mourn alongside you.

We must come together to condemn this senseless violence and demand justice for the victims.

To the Filipino community across Canada, we stand with you. Let me be clear: no one should ever fear for their safety while celebrating their culture, their history, and their community.

A Canada free from hatred is not just an ideal. It is a commitment we must all work toward, together. In the face of violence, we must stand united against hate in all its forms.
