Amanda Simard is the Ontario Liberal Caucus Critic for Francophone Affairs, Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture, and Small Business and Red Tape Reduction.
Amanda Simard was elected as the MPP for Glengarry—Prescott—Russell in 2018 and appointed as Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Francophone Affairs. After the Conservative cuts to French- language services, Simard left the government to sit as an Independent. She serves at the international level as Chair of the Network of Young Parliamentarians of the Assemblée parlementaire de la Francophonie. Before her election in 2018, she served as a Municipal Councillor, elected with the most votes of any Council candidate. She graduated from the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Law and worked at the Parliament of Canada from 2009 to 2017. Simard was born and raised in Embrun where she lives, along with her family, who has been in the riding she represents for over 200 years.
